When two AEP Texas lineworkers saw a car on its side, instinct took over.
Line Crew leader Aaron Lusk and Line Mechanic-B Tanner Collett were on a service road heading to a call in the middle of the night, when they spotted a vehicle on its side in the ditch.
While a bystander called 911, Lusk and Collett opened the vehicle.

“We assisted the child and put her in the truck with the heater on since she was wet, and the outside temperature was 45-50 degrees,” Lusk said. “Once we made sure the woman was stable enough, I moved the seats to make room so she could move and get out.”
As Lusk and Collett were helping the woman and child from the car, paramedics and the fire department arrived.
“I was nervous when we realized there were people in the vehicle, not knowing how bad the situation might have been,” Lusk said.
Fortunately, the woman and child were not seriously injured.
Lusk and Collett showed courage and quick thinking that ensured that everyone was in safe hands.
“I would want someone to do the same for me or my family,” Lusk said.
